Private Day Tours from Melbourne

Great Ocean Road Private Tours

Experience one of the world's most spectacular coastal drives — the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, Otway Rainforest — entirely at your own pace in a luxury private vehicle.

Australia's Most Iconic Drive, Your Way

The Great Ocean Road is one of Australia's most extraordinary experiences — 243 kilometres of dramatic coastline, ancient rainforests, and geological wonders. And the best way to experience it is privately, with a knowledgeable local chauffeur who knows every lookout, every café, and every hidden detour worth taking.

Unlike shared bus tours that rush you through key stops with hundreds of other visitors, our private Great Ocean Road tours move entirely at your pace. Linger at the 12 Apostles for the perfect photograph. Take an extra 30 minutes in the Otway rainforest. Stop for a long lunch in Lorne. It's completely your call.

Tours depart from Melbourne CBD or your hotel and return the same day, or we can arrange overnight packages for those who want to truly savour the journey.

What You'll Experience

The 12 Apostles

Victoria's most iconic landmark — limestone stacks rising dramatically from the Southern Ocean. Best experienced at sunrise or sunset when crowds are minimal and light is extraordinary.

Loch Ard Gorge

A stunning natural gorge with a rich shipwreck history. The turquoise water, towering cliffs, and secluded beach make this one of the most photogenic spots on the entire route.

Otway Rainforest

Walk through ancient temperate rainforest at the Otway National Park. The iconic Otway Fly treetop walk offers breathtaking views over the forest canopy 25 metres above the ground.

Lorne & Apollo Bay

Charming seaside towns with excellent restaurants, surf beaches, and galleries. Your chauffeur can recommend the best lunch spots and allow ample time to explore at leisure.

Why Choose a Private Tour

Your Own Schedule

No tour bus timetable to follow. Stop where you want, for as long as you like. Your chauffeur adapts the day entirely around your group's interests and energy.

Exclusively Your Group

No strangers on your tour. Just you, your group, and your private chauffeur. Every conversation, every decision, every stop is exclusively yours.

Local Knowledge

Our chauffeurs have driven the Great Ocean Road hundreds of times. They know the best hidden viewpoints, the quietest beaches, and the restaurants that don't need to advertise.

Hotel Pickup & Drop-Off

We collect you from your Melbourne hotel or home and return you door-to-door at the end of the day — no need to navigate public transport after a long day of exploring.

Also: Phillip Island & Grampians

We also offer private day tours to Phillip Island (penguin parade), the Grampians National Park, and Mount Buller — just ask about alternative touring destinations.

Overnight Tours Available

Want more time? We can arrange overnight Great Ocean Road packages with accommodation in Lorne, Apollo Bay, or Port Campbell — the perfect 2-day Victorian getaway.

Great Ocean Road Tour Questions

How long does the Great Ocean Road tour take?
A full Great Ocean Road day tour — from Melbourne CBD to the 12 Apostles and back — takes approximately 12–14 hours depending on your stops. We depart early (7–8am) to maximise your time and beat the crowds at the 12 Apostles.
Is the 12 Apostles tour included?
Yes, the 12 Apostles is included in all full-day Great Ocean Road tours. We also stop at Loch Ard Gorge, the Razorback, and the Grotto nearby — the entire Port Campbell National Park limestone coast.
What is the best time of year to do the tour?
The Great Ocean Road is beautiful year-round. Summer (December–February) is warmest but busiest. Autumn and spring offer the best balance of good weather and smaller crowds. Winter tours have a dramatic, moody atmosphere and practically empty lookouts.
Can we stop for lunch along the way?
Absolutely — lunch is a highlight of the day. We recommend Chris's Beacon Point Restaurant for spectacular ocean views, or the many excellent options in Lorne and Apollo Bay. We can make a reservation for you in advance.
